There aren’t enough words in the English language to describe this guy! He’s the glue of Firewall! He brings so many together and wants everyone to have a good time at all times. Not only that, he’s taken his fitness to the next level over the past couple of years! Joe is someone who everyone should be looking up to. He’s extremely positive, hard working, and lively! Congratulations, Joe – well-deserved!!

How long have you been at Firewall?
About 2 years

What made you want to switch from OTCFit to CrossFit back in the day?
I started off with OTCFit and I enjoyed it. I felt a bit intimidated by the barbell work but I also wanted to get into it at the same time. So I switched to full CF when the OTCFit class times didn’t work out. So glad I did.

What are your top 3 reasons for working out?
Get big arms (ha!). Really – the people at CF are so great. It’s the people first, the variety and interesting workouts, and CF has been instrumental in getting through the hard times.

If you were to give a friend a piece of advice to get started with CrossFit, what would you tell them?
Start at your own pace and you will grow quickly. Also, it is essential to keep going regularly because then it becomes part of your regular, healthy routine. CF is a full body workout and it will change your life.

What’s your favorite part of CrossFit (the workouts)?
I really like body-weight workouts (air squats, burpees, etc.) but also like full body barbell work such as squat cleans, barbell thrusters, overhead squats.

What’s your favorite part of Firewall (the gym)?
I really like the fresh-scented floors during really humid days

How has your fitness inside the gym benefited you outside the gym?
I feel taller

What are some goals you hope to accomplish by the end of the year (both inside and outside the gym)?
do double-unders consistently and do a bar-muscle-up. Go see more live music

Would you rather be a genius and know everything or be amazing at everything you tried?
I’m both already

How’s it feel to be the glue of Firewall?
I’m a bit self-conscious for being in such a sticky situation.

Who’s your favorite band and how many times have you seen them live?
You know the answer to that – The String Cheese Incident!. Go check them out – amazing live. They
play everything from Afro-Caribbean, electronica, bluegrass, hard-driving rock and sets with all the
above in amazing mash-ups. Have seen them at least 60 times.
