Congratulations to the incredible Mike Irons for earning this month’s award!  Mike has been with us for a little over a year now, and my goodness we’ve seen some serious improvement from him.  This guy never gives up on a workout and fully recognizes how to listen to his body.  He knows when to push his limits, and he knows when he’s just coming into the gym to get a little bit of movement and a sweat.  He’s a staple of the afternoon at Firewall.  It wouldn’t be the same without him!  Congrats again Mike!  Be sure to check out the Q&A we did with below!

How long have you been CrossFitting for? When did you start at Firewall?
I started CrossFit a few years ago when we lived in Bellingham but stopped after we moved to Holliston. I started at Firewall in August 2020 with my first sessions with the one and only Mr. Bucky.

What progress have you seen since starting?
I remember at my first session, I could not do one push-up and I practically tripped with the jump rope. Now I am able to do sets of about 10 push-ups and I got 150 singles unbroken two weeks ago.

If you were to give a piece of advice to someone new who joined, what would it be?
That’s tough because I have three: Don’t get discouraged, ask questions and have fun!

What’s your favorite part about CrossFit?
The feeling of accomplishment at the end.

What’s your favorite part about Firewall?
How supportive everyone is to each other.

How often do you workout and at what class times?
I have been pretty consistent in going Mondays thru Fridays either the 4:30 or 5:30 PM and rest (recover) on the weekends.

What’s something you hope to accomplish inside and/or outside of the gym by the summer of 2022?
I set a goal of getting my first pull up by the end of August. That did not happen but I am shooting for the end of the year now.

Who’s the fittest member of the family?

Who’s your favorite band to rock out to?
Tie: Gun’s N’ Roses or Motley Crue

What’s your favorite concert you’ve ever been to?
Imagine Dragons (went with Ann, Brendan and Gryff)
