Meet the Team

Alex Buckler

CO-OWNER/COACH

My first exposure to fitness was my junior year of high school.  I wanted to get more in shape for my final year of high school basketball as it was a glaring weakness of mine!  Fast forward to the end of my senior season, and I decided to switch my focus from basketball to fitness and haven’t looked back! I started coaching CrossFit back in October of 2012 at a number of different CrossFit gyms both at home and at school. Over the years, the changes I’ve seen in people’s health, spirit, energy, and physical appearance have been nothing short of miracles.  My favorite part about coaching is when I see people achieve things they never thought possible, and I’m not just talking about getting their first pull-up.  To see the 45 year-old dad be able to play sports with their son again or the 35 year-old working mother of 3 take back control of her health is awe-inspiring.  The whole point of getting fit inside the gym is to be able to use it outside the gym.

Dave Dubin

CO-OWNER/COACH

I am a recent graduate of Springfield College with a degree in Applied Exercise Science. At Springfield College, I wrestled my freshmen year and then founded Springfield College CrossFit my sophomore year which was an on campus CrossFit club that included 50+ students each semester. The club would meet 7 days every week and I dedicated my personal time to helping the students and faculty of Springfield College to become all around more healthier and stronger individuals. My final semester I received a position at Purdue University to fulfill my 950 hour internship working along side the sports performance team with Purdue’s Football, Women’s Volleyball and Mens Wrestling teams. It was an amazing and humbling experience to work with Division I athletes and the sports performance coaches that train them but I realized my true calling is working in the private sector in the CrossFit community.

Firewall Kids Program Director/Coach

I can’t say I’ve been an athlete my whole life.  I participated in almost every sport available to me  – soccer, softball and volleyball as a child into high school, but it wasn’t until I found my love for running in college that I truly loved training, pushing myself and competing.  After having twins and realizing how much running was taking a toll on my body, I knew I needed something different.  My sister had just started CrossFit and convinced me to give it a try.  I instantly fell in love and joined.  In 2015, I received my CF-L1 and CrossFit Kids Certification and began coaching.  I like to take a very common-sense approach towards movement, modifications and injury prevention. I like to work members to their individual potential while staying focused, but I also keep my classes laid-back and fun – while also playing the best playlists of all the coaches in the gym! I truly believe that, deep within every person – child or adult – there is an indomitable spirit waiting to be set free with the passion that arises when one achieves a hard-fought goal. Nowhere is this more evident than inside the walls of our gym.  It’s a pleasure and an honor to be a part of this every day at Firewall.

Damon Ferranti

COACH

I hail from Waltham and have lived in Holliston since 2013. I found CrossFit in November of 2016 and quickly realized it was something I was very passionate about. I joined Firewall right when they opened and quickly became obsessed with the community. Growing up I was very active in sports including football, soccer, baseball, lacrosse and hockey. I played both lacrosse and hockey at Matignon High School in Cambridge and continued with both sports at NCAA Division III, Curry College in Milton. After graduating from Curry College with a degree in Communications, I got a job at Fidelity Investments. It didn’t take long for me to realize that sitting behind a desk was not for me. In 2004, I became a Firefighter on the Waltham Fire Department where I still work full time as Lieutenant on Engine 1.  My favorite part about coaching is seeing members achieve something they didn’t think was possible, whether it be their first box jump, clean or pull-up – I get more excited than they do!

Kevin Dautel

COACH

I graduated from Castleton University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science. Currently, I coach at 2 CrossFit gyms and work as an assistant instructor for O2X, a human performance company that works with Police, Fire and other first responders. CrossFit has changed my life in so many ways, and the biggest reason being involved in gyms that have an amazing community that bring the best out of others. I love what I do because it allows me to work with very high level athletes and optimize their performance as well as work with individuals who are struggling with injuries and develop programs to get them out of pain. Whether it’s competing at a high level or being able to pick up their kids without pain, my biggest passion is getting individuals toward their goals.
